Welcome to Bethesda Baptist Church, Felixstowe.

We are an ordinary group of people who have discovered the extraordinary grace of Jesus Christ. Our desire is to glorify God by being and making disciples of Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Whether you have followed Jesus for many years, are exploring the Christian faith for the first time, or are simply looking for a church to call home, you will find a warm welcome here. We seek to be a church centred on God's Word, devoted to prayer, committed to one another in love, and eager to share the hope of the gospel with our community.

Who is Jesus?

"…the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God." Mark 1:1

Jesus is the most significant person in history. More than a great teacher or moral example, he is God's Son, who came into the world to reveal God, rescue sinners, and bring us into eternal life.

The Bible tells us that God created us to know him, love him, and enjoy life with him. Yet every one of us has turned away from God. The Bible calls this sin, and it has left us separated from the God who gives life.

Out of his great love, God sent Jesus Christ into the world. Jesus lived the perfect life we have failed to live, died on the cross to bear the penalty for our sin, and rose again from the dead in victory over sin and death. Through him, forgiveness, peace with God, and the hope of everlasting life are offered freely to all who trust in him.

Jesus doesn't simply invite us to follow a set of rules or adopt a new religion. He invites us into a relationship with the living God. He calls us to turn from sin, trust in him, and follow him as Lord.

One day Jesus will return to judge the world and establish his perfect kingdom. Until then, he continues to welcome all who come to him in faith.

Meet our leadership

Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church. He rules his people through his Word and by his Spirit, and every aspect of our life together is shaped by his authority.

At Bethesda Baptist Church, leadership is shared between pastors and elders, who are responsible for teaching God's Word, shepherding the church, and providing spiritual oversight. They are supported by deacons, who lead and coordinate many of the practical ministries of the church, enabling the whole congregation to flourish in worship and service.

Our leaders are not called to serve because they are perfect, but because they have been called by God and recognised by the church as men of godly character, sound doctrine, and servant-hearted leadership. We seek to follow the pattern of leadership set out in the New Testament, where leaders equip God's people for works of service and help the church grow in faith, love, and maturity.

We believe that every Christian has been gifted by the Holy Spirit to serve. While some are called to lead, the ministry of the church belongs to the whole body of Christ as we encourage one another, care for one another, and together make Jesus known.
