Sunday morning service

Sunday morning service at Bethesda Baptist Church

Our Sunday morning services start at 10:30am where we meet as a church family.

We aim to provide a warm and friendly welcome and there's a vibrant atmosphere within the church itself. The service itself is informal yet sincere and joyful. It is a place to encourage and build each other up in the faith. The name 'Bethesda' means 'house of mercy'.

We come to praise and worship God, to be led together in prayers, and to read and learn from the Bible. At Bethesda, we seek to apply the Bible to our lives practically and spiritually, with the help of a meaningful and relevant Biblical sermon.

During the Sunday morning services, there are groups available for children to participate in. There is a crèche for babies and toddlers aged up to 3 years. Children usually join us for the first part of our service, and then for 3 to 11-year-olds, 'Mini-Zone' provides activities, arts and crafts, Bible stories, teaching and games; and there is 'Y-Zone' for the over-11s where they discuss and are taught different biblical themes.

If you are a visitor to our church, you are more than welcome to join us. You will be greeted at the entrance, so please let us know if we can help you in any way. After the service, refreshments are provided, giving us all an opportunity to catch up or to get to know one another better. Our leaders will also be happy to pray or talk with you after the service.

Sunday evening seminars & prayer meetings

Sunday evening gathering inside the church

In a more informal setting we have seminars where there is teaching, small-group discussion and interaction together as a wider congregation about various topics. Recent subjects have covered How To Read The Bible, Sola Scriptura, and missional studies on understanding other faiths. It is a great way to learn in more specific depth, with a chance to ask any particular questions about the subject.

One evening a month is given over to a prayer meeting, focusing on the needs of the church, the wider world and some of our mission partners across the world who we support.

Tiny Treasures is our toddler group for 0-4 year olds.

The group is a friendly, inclusive space for little ones and their grown-ups to play, learn and connect. Each session offers a variety of educational play stations designed to spark curiosity and support early development, from sensory activities to imaginative play.

We also share a short, engaging Bible story suitable for little ones, creating a moment of calm after lots of play. Whether you are a parent, grandparent or carer, everyone is welcome to come along, make friends and enjoy a relaxed, supportive community.

Home groups

Our home groups are a great way to have fellowship with each other and build relationships within the church.

It is a place where we socialise, catch up and form deeper relationships. We break down and discuss elements of the previous Sunday's sermon and have a focused time of prayer for each other and the church.
